You might have noticed it went a bit quiet around here, but two weddings have passed, yes, you read that correctly, two weddings! But don`t worry, they were with the same man. I had one wedding in Australia and one in Europe to keep both families happy. After all that planning and celebrating, I`m ready for some much needed us time, enter: a honeymoon!
When I think of a honeymoon, I think of relaxing, romance and luxury. And let`s be honest, celebrating your marriage, is definitely a reason to splurge! Now I also know that my idea of a relaxing, luxury, preferably beach destination isn`t everyone`s cup of tea (think new husband), so I have to keep an open mind and thought I should do some research into a few honeymoon destinations before making a decision. So I had a browse through these Luxury Holidays with Elegant Resorts.
Beach Romance
As most of you know, I`m a beach lover, so on my honeymoon I would like to enjoy relaxing by the beach: sun lounger, book and an umbrella drink, my kind of heaven. And of course, the company of my new hubby! Looks like One and Only Reethi Rah in the Maldives checks all those boxes and two other beach lovers pick Reethi Rah as their perfect beach. The fact that the resort has luxury villas with their own ocean view is a bonus I`ll gladly take!
Island Hideaway
Now for a honeymoon, having some privacy with your new hubby is quite welcome, so why not choose a private island such as Petit St Vincent. I had the pleasure of visiting this island (unfortunately only for a drink last time) when island hopping in St Vincent and the Grenadines. I wouldn`t mind staying here a bit longer and truly enjoy it.
City Luxury
Since we moved to Australia, exploring more of the country is high on our list. The advantage of visiting a city is that there is plenty to do, such as sightseeing and dining out, more what my hubby would like to do during a trip. (I would probably just take advantage of the great view at Park Hyatt Sydney and enjoy the luxury!)
Spa Indulgence
When I think of relaxing, spa treatments come to mind. Massages, facials and moments of total bliss, I could totally see that happening on my honeymoon. What is better than a luxury resort like Dinarobin Hotel that has its own spa – renowned as the most beautiful in Mauritius.
(I might have to convince the hubby of this one though, as spa treatments aren`t really a highlight for him…maybe this serves better as a girl`s trip)
Of course there are plenty of other options. You can focus on a specific continent you`ve always wanted to visit or a place where you can combine relaxing and sightseeing to have some diversity. Or if you really want to go all the way, you can visit multiple destinations on one trip and make it the trip of a lifetime.
What does your ideal honeymoon look like?

Congratulations Isabelle! I’m planning just one wedding and it’s hard to stay sane! Well done you for doing it all twice! We have chosen to go for the City Luxury option. We get married on 20th December and will be flying out afterwards to New York for the holiday season. I think a honeymoon should be something you will never do again, so that it will always remain special.
