Take the ferry

Take a boat ride on the Fairmile, a restored WWII ship that will carry you on the coastal journey from Torquay to the picturesque port of Dartmouth.

Visit Greenway

Greenway was the private holiday home of Agatha Christie and her family. It is now run by the National Trust. Wander around in the gardens, visit the beautiful estate and take in the stunning views over the Dart Estuary.

Kents Cavern

Kents Cavern is one of Europe’s top prehistoric Stone Age caves with an extensive labyrinth of spectacular and easily accessible caverns. A great place to visit with the family as there`s a kids’ archaeological dig area and the children are being involved during the tour by the guide.

Harbor of Torquay

The harbor is a lovely place to wander by the water, have a drink at one of the terraces, browse the shops or go for a meal at the many restaurants.

Babbacombe Cliff Railway

Built in 1926, the Babbacombe Cliff Railway has shuttled hundreds of thousands of holiday makers to and from Oddicombe Beach in over 84 years of service. It offers beautiful views over the waters edge.

Torre Abbey Gardens

Enjoy a wealth of exotic and exciting plants at Torre Abbey Gardens which is located behind the main building of the Abbey. Here you`ll find a Potent Plants Garden inspired by Agatha Christie`s novels. But you’ll also find tombs of monks in the grounds, the ruins of the original church and beautiful flower beds. All year round you can enjoy The Palm House, containing tropical plants and palms from around the world. There`s also a whole Cactus Collection.

Torre Abbey Gardens, English RivieraPlease note: The Abbey building is currently closed for renovation (due to re-open 2013) but the garden remains open. Entrance to the gardens only is £2.50

Stay at Cary Arms

For a romantic getaway stay at the Cary Arms, or even if you just want to enjoy the view, you can stop by for a drink or a snack.

Cary Arms, English Riviera

These are just a few of the things I did while visiting the English Riviera. It`s safe to say, this place is a hidden gem!

*All prices were accurate at time of publishing.

I was invited by English Riviera Tourism and Visit England as a guest, with accommodation provided by the Cary Arms,  as always opinions are my own.

So beautiful. I’d visit for the scenery alone, but I’m a big Agatha Christie fan, so Greenway would be an added bonus. Thanks for the info!
P.S. Kent Caverns would be very interesting to see. The rock (?) formation in the photo greatly resembles Frankenstein. Fitting as stein = stone 🙂
