Most of my readers know about my love for beaches, but for you who haven`t checked out my sister site: Beachthursday.com now is the time! I`m on a road trip through Florida discovering the best beaches and activities along the way.
I`m over a week on the road now and I`ll be writing about the trip extensively on BeachThursday.com, but I did want to share what I found today in St Petersburg, Florida.
St Petersburg houses a Dali Museum. Now I`ve been to the birthplace of Dali at Figueres, Spain on one of my previous trips. I`ve visited the Dali Museum and the house he lived and worked at until 1982, Portlligat at Cadaques.
So it came a bit as a surprise to find another Dali Museum in Florida. This Salvador Dali Museum houses the largest collection outside Europe of the works of the artist Salvador Dalí. It is located on the waterfront at Downtown St Petersburg.
The reason it is located in St Petersburg, is because Mr Morse had a private collection of Dali`s work and was willing to donate the artwork for free to whoever could provide a venue and that would keep the entire collection together and would only show work from Dali.
Don`t miss the Bay Vista, the best view and photo spot in the museum.

I’ve never been to St Pete’s, but the Dali Museum would be a wonderful reason to plan a trip. What a fascinating building and remarkable history of the collection. Thanks for the information. I just wish this museum had been open when we were still living in the US. Definitely something to look forward to if we make it back to Florida in the future, though!

It definitely is a fascinating building and the museum is not something you`d expect here, but it`s definitely worth a visit.

There`s so much to see and do, it`s easy to overlook things. But if you`ve got the chance, make a stop next time, it`s worth it 🙂 Thanks for your comment!
