Pastries and Desserts: a personal top 5!

By Isabelle Leave a Comment

I put together a list of addresses where you should try the pastries and desserts! Especially if you have a soft spot for sweets and chocolates, like I do! Unfortunately I don’t have many pictures of my pastries or desserts, due to the fact I rather eat them!

Chocolate Torte at Demel, Vienna

1. DEMEL, Vienna (Austria)

This address (Kohlmarkt 14) is famous because of its pastries and chocolates. The pastries are delicious! Last time I was there, they even had a chocolate fountain! (Opening hours: daily: 10 AM – 7 PM). Try the chocolate torte, as seen above…yummy.

2. TOMASELLI, Salzburg (Austria)

This is a lovely place to enjoy a cup of coffee and a nice piece of pastry! They offer a large variety of coffees and pastries. The pastries are brought to your table by a woman that carries a huge tray with all kinds of cakes for you to choose from! If you go in the summer time you can enjoy all this out on the balcony while overlooking the streets of Salzburg … lovely!

 3. SERENDIPITY3, New York

Serendipity3 is a place you just have to check out, if you like desserts and chocolate. (I do!) They serve lunch and dinner too! But I went looking for it after I saw the amazing sundaes in the movie ‘Serendipity’. And I have to say, they don’t just look good! It’s at 225 East 60th Street (between 2nd and 3rd Avenues). When I went, it was packed! You can make reservations, but only for lunch or dinner, not for desserts. They open at 11.30 am.

4. THE CHEESECAKE FACTORY, USA

You can find the Cheesecake Factory at different locations all over the US. You can eat a lot more than just cheesecake here. And it’s all yummy! But the desserts are my favorite! Personally I just love Linda’s Fudge Cake > layers and layers of chocolate cake: delicious!!! But that’s probably because I’m a chocoholic…

5. THE MEERT, Lille (France)

This is a beautiful pastry shop in Lille, located near the Grand Place (27 rue Esquermoise). They sell delicious sweets here! And in the back of the shop, there is a little tea room where you can have a piece of chocolate cake or one of the many other French pastries. Their specialty is a vanilla centered waffle. For travelers with a sweet-tooth, this is a place to visit!

And this is my FAVORITE place close to my home town: Go for the ultimate chocolate experience at Boon.
