I just got my ticket to Jordan!
I feel excited like a kid that`s going on its first school trip, ready to explore the world. Jordan looks so fascinating and charming. I`ve had many friends visit this destination and they all came back with photos of gorgeous places and stories filled with history, culture and adventure. Making me even more eager to explore this country.
I can only imagine how it must feel standing at the entrance of Petra, seeing that first glimpse.
I can`t wait to see it with my own eyes. – I`ll let you know! – I wonder if I`ll have the same feeling as when I was at Uluru, in Australia, last May. That place touched my soul.
I found this beautiful poem by John William Burgon describing Petra:
It seems no work of Man’s creative hand,
by labour wrought as wavering fancy planned;
But from the rock as if by magic grown,
eternal, silent, beautiful, alone!
Not virgin-white like that old Doric shrine,
where erst Athena held her rites divine;
Not saintly-grey, like many a minster fane,
that crowns the hill and consecrates the plain;
But rose-red as if the blush of dawn,
that first beheld them were not yet withdrawn;
The hues of youth upon a brow of woe,
which Man deemed old two thousand years ago,
match me such marvel save in Eastern clime,
a rose-red city half as old as time.
And then I haven`t even spoken of all the other places I`ll be visiting in Jordan. I`m already sitting at the edge of my seat writing this, can`t wait to follow in the footsteps of many great adventurers.
I`ll be visiting Jordan on invitation of Jordan Tourism Board
