I went to the World Travel Market in London last week and Roomorama offered to host me during part of my stay.
It’s not the first time I’ve stayed in an apartment while in London instead of an hotel. But it is the first time I’ve stayed with Roomorama. An apartment gives me that ‘home away from home’ feeling. I thought Roomorama would be similar to my previous stay at a serviced apartment, but it`s slightly different. Let me explain.
Roomorama is a traveler’s website for short-term rentals. You book an apartment through them and they take care of the rest. Or so they should… Unfortunately my experience with them wasn`t the best one can have. I was staying at an apartment with three other girls and we had one contact person to make it easier. Or so we thought.
Roomorama gives you the reservation number, location and contact details to pick up your keys from your host. This didn`t work out for us, as the host wasn`t aware of our stay and we had to contact Roomorama. I have to say they arranged immediately for a different apartment. Sadly that wasn`t a location close to the venue we were going to for WTM and because of the rearrangements, I had to cancel some meetings.
But to be fair, the apartment they offered us was a nice and spacious one with three bedrooms. (By now, one of our party of four cancelled, meaning we all had our own bedroom, which was nice.)
This apartment had 3 bedrooms, one with ensuite bathroom, a seperate bathroom, a full kitchen and a spacious living and dining room.

For me personally three points are important when I book accommodation: location, comfort and internet. They scored 1 out of 3. The location wasn`t the best, as it was far from the venue. The internet kept going down (not healthy for a travel blogger who`s dependent on being online). But I can`t complain about the comfort. Comfort we had.
I did talk to some others who have worked with Roomorama before and they never had a problem, so maybe this was a onetime thing, but I still wanted to bring you my honest opinion. The idea of staying at short-term rental still appeals to me when you`re staying in a city or a destination for a longer time, because it gives you more freedom, flexibility and space.
