Eating in New York City? There is so much choice. Here are some of the eating places I went to on my last trip.
For the Sweet Tooth Amongst Us
I know Demel from where it`s originally from: Vienna. That`s where I tried their Sachertorte the first time! ~ Well, it is my number 1 in Top 5 of Pastries & Desserts ~ It`s so yummy. It`s a patisserie with amazing `tortes` (=cakes, pastries). I`ve visited their second place in Salzburg (Austria) a few times and when I saw they opened one in NY, well I had to try it of course 😉 The place is Vienna is more authentic, then this one in New York. But still, the pastries are yummy and if you can`t make it to Vienna and you want some European flair, this is your opportunity. ~don`t forget the prices are European also, you`re paying around 6 dollars for a piece~
Location: The Plaza Retail Collection, One West 58th Street
IMPORTANT NOTE: Just read an article that the Bakery Demel is going to leave the Plaza. You can read it here.
Another dessert heaven, Magnolia`s Bakery. I heard so many good things about this place I had to check it out for myself. They specialize in cupcakes! And I have to agree, they are delicious!
Location: 1240 Avenue of the Americas
Wafels and Dinges
This is an invention of a Belgian guy who is living in the US. He started in 2007 with going out in the streets selling real Belgian Waffles. He recently got a Vendy award , celebrating New York`s best street vendors. You can find him on different locations during the week. I, being from Belgium, couldn`t leave this opportunity to check them out!
And yes, they taste like the real Belgian waffles, mmhhh…!
Breakfast/Lunch
A place I like to go for breakfast or lunch while in NY, is Le Pain Quotidien. I`ve written about them in my 3 Best Kept Travel Secrets post.
Restaurants
The next address was a tip from @LuxuryTravelMom (who joined me for a day in NY 🙂
The restaurant on the 7th floor of Bergdorf and Goodman, is a lovely restaurant with stunning views over Central Park and divine food! Unfortunately I was so focused on taking in the beautiful view and the choice on the menu, I forgot to take a picture. If you get the chance while you`re visiting NY, consider having lunch or afternoon tea here.
Location: 58th Street and 5th Ave
On one of my previous trips to New York, I went to Angelo`s Pizza (located at 117 West 57th Street). I really liked this place. Friendly service, great pizza`s and the price is affordable.
Of course there are many eating places in New York. This city has lots of different nationalities and you can eat all kinds of different food: American, Italian, Chinese, Japanese and many more! These are just a few of the places I tried when visiting New York for the Holidays.
