When I got the itinerary for this #blogstalbans trip I saw there was a hike planned on Sunday morning. Now you have to know I`m not much of a hiker, so my first worry was, how big of a hike would this be. Luckily Andy reassured me it would be an easy one.
After a 30 minutes’ drive from St Albans, Anna from Tourdust was awaiting us to guide us on our walk in the lovely countryside of Hertfordshire.
The autumn colors made it an even more beautiful walk!
You can imagine we worked up an appetite and we were expected for a Sunday roast at the traditional pub Rose and Crown.
What`s a Sunday roast you might ask? (As I did the same 🙂 It`s a traditional British main meal served on Sundays usually at lunch, consisting of roasted meat, roast potato and vegetables. So on Sundays it`s still tradition to eat with the family, but you do it at a local pub or restaurant, who usually offer a Sunday menu.
After a nice lunch we headed to the Whipsnade Tree Cathedral. We didn`t really know what to expect… was it a cathedral built in a tree or a cathedral with lots of trees around it? Well, actually it`s a bunch of trees built in the shape of a cathedral. It was created after the First World War in a spirit of ‘faith, hope and reconciliation’.
It was a great day outside and we ended it with a wonderful evening at The Black Lion Inn with a Tweetup amongst travelers.
Thanks to Andy and all the sponsors to make this blog trip possible! Our vehicle and our accommodation.
