Today my friends arrived to Venice, they made a 2 weeks transatlantic cruise from New York to Venice with NCL cruises. (For more: info on cruises.)
Together with them, I walked around Venice some more, discovering little streets and canals. Walking around this city is like walking around at a film set.
We saw the Rialto Bridge and San Marco Square. Making stops for some souvenir shopping, eating pizza for lunch and gelato as dessert 🙂
We went into Basilica di San Marco. It`s free to go in, however there was a line. But it moved rather quickly. Sorry, it`s not allowed to take pictures inside. But I`ve found on this website you can watch 3D images to view the Basilica on the inside.
Because we still had to pick up the rental car, we took the vaporetto (=water bus) to save on time. This is a great way to move around in Venice, besides walking, because you get to see the city from the water to take some nice pictures 😉 And it`s cheaper than a gondola…
To go back to the airport to pick up the rental car, we took the Venezia Express again. Here`s our ride for the next few days!
And we`re on our way, first stop: Bologna.
