From Bologna to Sorrento it`s about an 6 hour drive without stops (620 km/385 miles). You have to pay toll in Italy if you want to use the “autostrade”, but the roads are in good condition. And about every 30 km you have an eating facility or gas station if you want to make a stop. We decided to buy supplies for a picnic and had a nice lunch. It`s quite a drive, so make enough stops. (We paid 36 euros* at the toll booth)
Have a look at this cute road stopwhere we had lunch 🙂
Arriving in Sorrento, we dropped our luggage at the Bed and Breakfast I found on the internet. Emily Suites is located a 15 minute walk from the ferries to take you to Capri and Ischia.
Sorrento is a lovely town to stay. There are shops, restaurants and it`s convenient to make trips from Sorrento. You can take a ferry to Capri or Ischia. Another great trip to make is the Amalfi Coast drive.
We made a day trip to Capri. There are two ways of going to Capri from Sorrento. You can either take a ferry or a jet boat. The difference is the price and the speed. The ferry is 9.80* euro and takes you 20-25 minutes. The jet boat is 13.50* euro and takes you 15-20 minutes. We took the first one that came and that was the jet boat.
