Day 3: Visiting some of the Famous Museums in New York and Shopping!

So, you`ve been visiting the highlights on Day 1, saw the Statue of Liberty and Central Park on Day 2, now it`s time to explore the city some more. This depends on your interests, if you want to immerse yourself into culture at the amazing museums NY has to offer or go on a shopping spree or both 🙂

MUSEUMS

Guggenheim

The Guggenheim where modern and contemporary international art meet each other, is located at 1071 Fifth Avenue, at 89th Street. (Getting there.)

Metropolitan Museum of Arts

The Met, Metropolitan Museum of Arts, is one of the world’s largest and finest art museums. Its collections include more than two million works of art spanning five thousand years of world culture, from prehistory to the present and from every part of the globe.

Founded in 1870, the Metropolitan Museum is located in New York City’s Central Park along Fifth Avenue (from 80th to 84th Streets, Getting there).

MoMa

The MoMa, Museum of Modern Art, which is located in midtown Manhattan, at 11 West Fifty-third Street, between Fifth and Sixth avenues. (Getting there) The MoMa is a place that fuels creativity, ignites minds, and provides inspiration.

Keep in mind that the museum is closed on Tuesdays and open later on open until 8:45 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month. More info on the hours.

SHOPPING

While you`re in this fashion city of the world, I`m sure some of you want to do some shopping as well 😉 And trust me, plenty of places to go for that!

You can check out the designer shops at Fifth Avenue with all the big names like Prada, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Tiffany`s,… but also Banana Republic, Abercrombie & Fitch and so many more.

And then there are the big department stores like Lord & Taylor, SAKS 5th Avenue, Barney`s, Bergdorf Goodman and Bloomingdale`s. These are beautiful during the Holiday Seasons with their window displays.

Personal tips

If you`re at Bloomingdale`s, make a stop at the nearby Serendipity 3 (located at 225 East 60th Street (between 2nd and 3rd Avenues) for some of their famous chocolate desserts!

If you`re at Bergdorf Goodman, located at 58th Street and 5th Ave, have lunch at their restaurant or afternoon tea and you`ll get treated to a gorgeous view over Central Park!
For more shopping and cute little boutiques, check out Greenwhich Village, Soho and Little Italy. And don`t forget Canal Street for bargains!
