This little sea village is probably my favorite in the Asturias region. Walking into this town was like walking into a fairytale setting. The colorful houses are built against a hill and you can`t even see the town from the sea. It`s been told that years and years ago people used it as a refuge from Pirates, because of its invisibility from the sea. It`s probably a legend, but makes you wonder what it was like…
“Rumors say that Jake the Fierce was always on the lookout for new adventures and after conquering the open sea, he wanted to go ashore and find himself a treasure. While searching the coast line, he spotted a cliff and was wandering what was behind it…”
Okay, okay, I got carried away there. As I was saying, the bright colors of the houses, makes you feel like you`re walking around in a movie décor.
Of course this wouldn`t be a sea village if there wasn`t a fish market and places where you can test your taste buds with fresh fish… Sit back and relax.
You can stroll along the market square to the port where you can admire the fishing boats and maybe catch a glimpse of fishermen bringing in their catch of the day.
Cudillero is definitely one of those secret spots, you only hear from through other travelers or locals. So take my advice and next time you`re in Asturias, be sure to include this unique sea village to your itinerary!
