Costa Brava Things to do besides going to the beach!

By Isabelle Leave a Comment

GIRONA

Girona at the Costa Brava

The historical capital of the province of the Costa Brava with its colorful facades at the waterfront is a well-known shot of photographers. Not only is this a vibrant city that radiates coziness, it also is home to one of the best restaurants in the world: El Celler de Can Roca. If you get the chance to pay a visit during the yearly Flower Festival you won`t regret it.

DALI

Dali`s house at the Costa Brava

If you`ve walked around in the Dalí museum at Figueras and were impressed by the surrealistic ideas of this artist, make sure you look up the house of Salvador Dalí at Port Lligat. The house where he lived for 40 years offers an insight into his creative mind.

BESALU

Besalù at the Costa Brava

The medieval bridge of the old city of Besalù is probably the eye-catcher of this city. It makes for a spectacular entrance. Not far from here, you can also find the picturesque village Santa Pau. Another interesting historic site where you can wander through the streets and feel like you`ve walked right into a story with knights and damsels in distress…

FISHERMEN OF BEGUR

Begur at the Costa Brava

Costa Brava, meaning wild coast, owes its name to the many rock formations rising from the sea. In between you can find lots of ‘calas’ or coves where fishermen`s villages are situated. A fine example is the charming Tamariu with its sheltered beach and crystal blue water.

BOTANICAL GARDENS OF SANTA CLOTILDE

Santa Clotilde at the Costa Brava

Maybe not straight what you expect, but the climate of the Costa Brava allows the presence of botanical gardens. One of the most beautiful gardens is the “Jardín de Santa Clotilde” on top of a cliff at Lorett de Mar.

And if you are in search for a big adventure, why not jump out of a plane? Go skydiving above the beautiful mountain range, the Pyrenees and the coastline.

I was invited on this trip by Costa Brava Tourism and flights sponsored by Tourist office of Spain. However the opinions of this post are my own. And a special thanks to Nikon for letting me test the AF-S DX Nikkor 18-200 mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED VRII camera lens.
