“Watch your step” are the first words I hear when setting foot onboard the Kapalouest – it`s a catamaran of 16 meters long and 9 meters wide – which will take us on a boat ride like we`ve never had one before…
I`m in La Rochelle, located in the region of Poitou-Charentes, central western of France at the Bay of Biscay. After a train ride that took me past Paris, I arrived just in time for a “Sunset Cruise” aboard the Kapalouest. (I have to admit, when I saw the itinerary for this trip, this was straight away one of my favorites! I love being on the water.)
The captain warnes us, we could be in for a rocky ride, because of the weather. – Gulp! – But guess what? The weather gods liked us and made sure we had a smooth ride.
It was a total “Bliss” moment for me. You know that feeling when the wind is in your hair, the soothing rhythm of the waves almost rocking you to sleep.
The sun glowing, slowly heading towards the horizon while various hues of orange and red filled the sky above, offering us a light show as seen from the first row. Reflections on the water mesmerizing you and taking you into deeper thoughts…

Thanks to Sandrine from the Poitou-Charentes Tourist Board for being a wonderful host. And Sue & her team from MagellanPR for organizing this trip! Also thank you to RailEurope for getting me there. Even though this was a sponsored post, the opinions in this post are all my own.
