Exploring the Sunshine Coast

By Isabelle 4 Comments

My first visit to Australia several years ago took me to the East Coast of the country. I traveled from Sydney all the way up to Cairns. In the meantime I`ve been back to Sydney a few times and added Melbourne to my list of visited places on the East Coast, but I didn`t have the chance to explore more of the Sunshine Coast up until recently. Here are a few of the regions I visited:

Glass House Mountains National Park

Glass House Mountains

This national park is located about 70 km (43 miles) north of Brisbane. The Glass House Mountains are a group of hills or volcanic plugs. These are not just nice to look at from a viewing point but also a great spot for hikers or mountain bikers.

If you`re just looking for a luxury, peaceful retreat where you can relax, then Glass on Glass House is for you. With two walls of floor-to-ceiling glass you will feel like you`re outside. Having a view over the Glass House Mountains only makes it better! And if you thought that wasn`t unique, then take a bath while admiring the stunning views. Oh, I forgot to tell you, the bath fills up from the ceiling… yes, that`s right, water falls from the ceiling. I have to say, I`ve never seen that before.

Noosa Heads

Noosa Heads, a lovely coastal town, is located about 136 km (85 miles) north of Brisbane. There are plenty of things to do around here.

Noosa

I most enjoyed the beachy shops along Hastings Street and riding an electric bike to explore a bit more of Noosa Heads. Besides relaxing by the beach and enjoying delicious seafood, you can also hop onboard a boat to take you on an Everglades Tour. Admire the wildlife along the Noosa River and make sure to bring your camera to capture some amazing reflections.

Practical Tip

Renting a car gives you much more freedom when traveling around in Australia. There are other options like buses etc but I`ve noticed now living in Australia that having a car makes life a lot easier.

I was invited as a guest of the Sunshine Coast Tourism.
